IREWE-ORIGBONGBO

While praying and asking the Lord for the location of our next outreach, the Lord gave me a short vision where I saw the name “IREWE” boldly written. We had never heard of such name before.

Upon enquiry and search, we found out that “IREWE” is a Community made up of about 37 villages, located on an Island, along the Badagry Creeks, in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, Nigeria.

“IREWE” is accessible only by speed boat which takes about 25 minutes to get there. The community is headed by an Oba whose domain is in Osolu village, which is their capital. Other villages can also be accessible by paddling a Canoe across or by speed boat.

Their main occupation/trade are Fishing and Farming. They farm such crops as plantain, banana and coconut.

Two years ago, while returning from school, some of the children drowned for lack of life-jackets.

“IREWE COMMUNITY” predominantly consists of Muslim and Idol Worshippers and low percentage of Christians and few Churches. The villages need to be evangelised so we call on Churches, Missionaries and Missionary Groups.

We learnt from the two Missionaries (Husband & Wife) of the Foursquare Gospel Church who are already working among these people that some of these villages are resisting the Gospel. They insist that no Church shall be planted in their villages. Therefore, there’s much work to be done.

CRUSADE/OUTREACH

The Outreach was carried out on the 29th-30th of January, 2017, in ORIGBONGBO village, “ONE” out of the 37 Villages in Irewe Community. We also had people come from two other villages (Igamo and Origele) to attend the Crusade via boat.

Day One:

Word ministration and film show

Day Two:

Word ministration, free medical tests and treatment of malaria. Distribution of mosquito nets, clothes (Adults & Children), shoes, handbags, biscuits and other gift Items such as flasks, ceramic jugs & tumblers. Over 200 people were tested and treated for malaria.

We worked with the assistance of the above two said missionary Pastors (Pst. Sunday Olaoluwa and his wife Pst. Hannah Olaoluwa) who received the converts into their fold for nurturing. Adults and Children gave their lives to Christ on the first day of the outreach.

On the second day, we decided to lead everyone to Christ in a general prayer of Repentance because of the fears of their Muslim counterparts. We bought tarpaulin to cover the Foursquare Gospel Church Building because the church was bare. The Missionaries told us that some of the Muslims desire to worship with them but they want the building “COVERED” so they can “SNICK IN & OUT” without being “SEEN” or “NOTICED”

We are trusting God that with time they will be bold enough to Profess their Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ PUBLICLY.

We also had our Missionary friend, Pst. Ilolo, from Ghana who joined us for this outreach.

TESTIMONY

To the Glory of God, Pst. Hannah Olaoluwa told us that the church attendance and home fellowship attendance increased after the outreach.

When we arrived the Island on the first day of our search, we enquired and found out that there were only two Churches in the Community-Foursquare Gospel Church and the One established by the Oba.

They have been in this community for over fifteen (15) years and 4years, she has been praying and crying to the Lord to send them someone to carry out an outreach or crusade in the villages for them since they did not have the resources to do it. She said that she and her husband had written several letters to their Church for help, but was not given. They had also written to individuals and friends for help but to no avail until God sent us.

Today their faith has received a “boost” from the Lord, their faith is “healed”, and their “heads” are “lifted up”. They also “speak boldly and confidently to their members that GOD answers prayers”, and the faith of their members are “strengthened”, because GOD ANSWERED THEIR PRAYERS.

FUTURE OUTREACHES

By the Enabling Grace of God, we also intend to go on to other villages within the community along The Badagry Creeks as from next month (MARCH) for more outreaches. Please we will appreciate your continued support in this work of the kingdom. Remember, they are Muslim dominated villages. God bless you

INVITATION

We also wish to extend our sincere invitation to brethren who can volunteer or who wish to have missions experience (and can support themselves), to come with us to these mission fields for outreaches. “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend”(proverbs 27:17. kjv).
